I don't think Gotenks was wasted. The idea of him kind of came out of nowhere, and the kids were just little pricks who didn't deserve spotlight.

It should have been Super Saiyan Gotenks vs Super Buu and that's it.

They could have even done the same thing too, but with Base Gotenks.

-Base Gotenks powers up, Piccolo is still surprised by his power. He has a closer fight with Boo more similar to SSJ Gotenks vs Boo. He eventually says he can't win, Piccolo agrees because he is unaware he can transform beyond Base and then destroys the door. Gotenks turns SSJ and then things continue on.

Speaking of GT, is there one instance where it's definitely confirmed he used SSJ2 in it? I know he didn't really have that many fights since he was either fodder or possessed by Baby, but iirc there's like only one instance of Vegeta having lightning while transformed in GT lol.
