The way in which the Pokemon look is pretty off-putting, as though the film attempted to capture the uncanny valley effect and only partially succeeded. The plot also seems like a pretty standard buddy-cop film for the family.

I have no plans on seeing it unless either my girlfriend or my cousin's children want to go see it.

I really don't mind the way this looks, but why the goofy story that deviates from the anime? Just adapt the first season of Pokemon and this would be passable.

A game was released on the 3DS with the same title, so I assume it's based off that. I think a true, live-action Pokemon has amazing potential, but this isn't that lol. Imagine Jurassic Park with Pokemon. :mikey
