To end this debate: was Gohan a SSJ or SSJ2 against Dabra?

Gohan being a Super Saiyan 2 has more evidence and support to back it up. The anime, Daizenshuu, and the dialogue support Gohan being a Super Saiyan 2. Even if you don't use the anime and Daizenshuu, it still adds some merit for Gohan using his strongest form. Enough for one to not simply say "He has sparks so he was a Super Saiyan 2. Fact. Discussion over." To me it seems like an obvious case of sparks vs everything

You can go with what you want. If you want to go by SSJ1, retcon his transformation at 25th TB. If you wantahill1 said:

SSJ2. He has SSJ2 hair for one, and in the very next chapter, SSJ2 Majin Vegeta lacks lightning in his aura as well.

Well, I like the theory have been a retcon, but there are still problems to be solved:withheldforprivacy said:

So I read the next few chapters. Goku powers up to SSJ and has the same aura as Majin Vegeta. They then go to fight and both power up again and have lightning auras. So I guess Majin Vegeta wasn't SSJ2 to begin with?

No, definitely not. It's somewhat of a surprise reveal when Vegeta powers up after Goku. If he was Super Saiyan 2 all along it wouldn't have been as meaningful. The anime makes it more difficult to tell due to giving Vegeta sparks during his possession.Mystic said:

I don't think we can give much credit to Goku's statement, because that would also mean that SSJ2 Gohan>ahill1 said:

Also, i have another theory you might like. How about Gohan being only able to transform into a weakened
SSJ2 state, something like a pseudo SSJ2, with his base/SSJ being the same as 7 years ago? And he needs
rage to access the true SSJ2.

Well I found these, and I think it's interesting because SSJ Goku has the exact same aura as Gohan did against Dabura only a few chapters before. Gohan had his SSJ2 hair though. I really don't know.Kamikaze Pyro said:

So is Gohan SSJ or SSJ2? The difference in hair between the two forms is subtle but noticeable. I find it hard to believe that AT would forget lightning and then add it a few chapters later. Seems to me that he's SSJ.Kamikaze Pyro said:
