Ultimate Gohan is overrated

This is my hot take.

I've been on DBZ forums for about three years and I've heard more wank for Ultimate Gohan that any other character in the series. So I'm watching this part of the anime for the very first time and Gohan shows up for his fight agains Fit Buu.

This guy spends five episodes getting powered up, plus all the time he spends playing with the Z Sword. Then he pushes Buu around for ten minutes and that's all we get. Gohan doesn't finish the job, proceeds to get cucked by Gotenks Buu and then can't even stick around for fusion.

What's the big deal about this guy? Total disappointment, who's 95% hype and build up with zero accomplishments to show for it. SSJ2 Vegeta clocked more time against Buu, and looked better getting his ass kicked than Gohan did while dominating.

Why do so many forums polish his knob like the GQ man of the year? I was really looking forward to this part in the series and all I got was blue balls.

Sadly, I don't believe he's much stronger than SSJ3 Gotenks, and wasn't anywhere near as effective.

Fight me IRL.

The thing about Gohan is that he definitely had the power. Unfortunately AT just didn't think he was worthy of being the main hero, so he decided to bring Goku back into that role. Gohan could've had a much better showing than what he had.

Gohan wrecked Boo. You got to remember at that point in the story surpassing a fusion of the children was a huge deal. The children were already OP for their age and were said to be earth's last hole, on-top of that they achieved Super-Saiyan 3. Gohan surpassed a fusion of theirs at even their most powerful. Maybe not by much for you (I think he did by a lot), but either-way it's a big deal.

I agree he was powerful, but what came of it? SSJ2 Gohan at the Cell Games was way better in my opinion. That was good hype. But Ultimate Gohan was not only thrown to the side here after like one episode, but that's the last we ever hear of him. Completely forgotten about after this point in the story, especially in BoG and FnF. Maybe I built him up too much in my mind before watching.

It's funny when you really think about it. Gohan and Gotenks were both being hyped as being the next generation of warriors that would defend the Earth throughout the Boo saga.

*Goku returns to Earth a few chapters later and Gohan is absorbed*

"I know! You're gonna bring Gohan and Gotenks to fight."
"Lol nope."

Gohan and Gotenks went from relevant to irrelevant in the midst of a few chapters.

that's cause he is. Goku is nothing but a fly (actually even more little) to Gohan's potential. Highlighted a million times in the story, so that it is easy for even someone like you to pick-up on it.

In the Boo saga, Gohan's superior dormant power was not only brought out, but also pushed far above his natural limits. Since his dormant abilities already far outstrip Goku's, it's only right that he's far above him.

Also to add and completely debunk Fearless' post. Boo's anatomy makes no sense anyway. Somehow Pure-Evil Boo eating Good-Boo equals Super-Boo, but removing Good-Boo from Super-Boo equals Kid-Boo.
