That's an exaggeration. How do you know base Trunks is THAT strong?

His fight with Goku and his ability to survive and somewhat resist Black shows that his SS2 form is at least stronger than SSJ Goku, and base Goku should be astronomically above Gohan at this point via scaling.

Future Trunks wins both imo. I wouldn't say he is too far ahead of Gohan in this first round. The second round I give to Trunks mainly because Gohan was mostly all about power then he was about skill, Gohan is much more of a slacker.

The base Saiyans being that strong is from one or more of these:

1. BoG SSJ = BoG SSJ god >>> SSJ3 Vegetto

2. BoG base = BoG SSJ god >>> SSJ3 Vegetto

3. base Goku = 4th form Freeza >>> 1st form Freeza > SSJ Gotenks. If the gap between Freeza's forms is still 226x then the base Saiyans are Super duper strong

Unfortunately I can see Base Trunks winning round 1 rather easily.

Honestly not sure who I think would win with equal powers.

Along with what others have already said, there's also an implication for 1st form Freeza > Ultimate Gohan, as Vegeta didn't berate Gohan for having weakened as he did when he fought Dabura, implying Gohan would've still lost at his full power. There's also Beerus being somewhat excited by a match against Base Goku after the U6 Arc, whereas despite him being hyped to find a Super Saiyan God, he got no enjoyment out of his battles with SS3 Goku, SS2 Vegeta or any of the Zet-Senshi during the first Arc of Super, even when Vegeta was enraged.
