Was Goku a PSSB against Toppo in the manga?

So, most people tend to agree that Goku was used Perfected Super Saiyan Blue against Toppo, but is that really the case? Looking at the art, it doesn't seem to be so to me, given how his aura was still leaking when throwing his punches, whereas it was completely absent during his fight with Zamasu and Vegeta's against Beerus. You could say that his aura not being around his body was proof, but I severely doubt so. Drawing a SSB with the aura isn't something Toyotaro does consistently, seeing as how Vegeta's SSB aura is absent in the first few pages of chapter 20 when Future Zamasu shows up. Based on this, I'd say he was just using regular SSB against :mikey, not to mention that given the manga not having as many asspulls as the anime and the same being said of Vegeta's fight with Toppo, PSSB will most likely be saved for the fight with Hakaishin Toppo.

That's a good find. I guess that suggests Goku could have been a PSSB, but doesn't entirely confirm it just yet. Him stating he was caught off guard rather than the mistranslation of being held back could hint towards him being a PSSB, but there is one more concern I have with the art and execution of the scenes. When Goku and Vegeta each fight Toppo, they start off by flaring their aura, yet are never shown concentrating into their bodies and creating the steam effect that seemed to be an essential part of going into the form against Zamasu and Beerus. You could say this was due to it being a waste of time, which could work with the panel framing for Vegeta VS Toppo, but that doesn't really seem to be the case for Galu VS :mikey.

Doesn't Toppo say that Vegeta is equal to Goku though? That would suggest to me that Goku used PSSB, but he also told Vegeta he didn't use his full power against Toppo.

I think it's just a matter of Toyo not being bothered to draw that every time they turn into it.

That's a good point. Perhaps you've convinced me. There is just one point of concern, however. Toppo seemed pretty shocked Galu broke free of his 2-on-1 assault with Dickspo when he turned PSSB. I guess you could say it was due to bad writing, seeing as how Toppo wasn't even bothering to use his God Ki against him as though he wasn't already aware of Galu's strength, plus it's implied Goku didn't use his full power during their match, but it's still something worth considering.

That was actually a mistranslation iirc. What was actually said by Vegeta was reiterating the idea of Galu letting his guard down.

I can't really give you an answer to that but if there's anything worth mentioning in the anime Toppo was shocked to see Goku breaking his full nelson after turning Blue despite witnessing him using Blue Kaio-Ken against Bergamo, it's almost as if those two scenes are meant to directly mirror each other, so imo Toppo is just being stupid.

One of the reasons why many of us (or at least I) perceive him using Perfected Blue against Toppo is because he seems to be using the exact same move he used when fighting Merged Zamasu where he had his hand overflowing with SSJB Ki. This is something we never saw before the form had debuted.
