Initial Fat Buu wasn't enough to make Gohan think he had no chance. 1st Power-Up Fat Buu scared the Bajeebus out of Gohan and did the Flash-Step to him. You know who couldn't flash-step against Gohan? Broly.

Adding on to that a majority of the people who make up these claims have only seen the English Dub. Hell I've seen people who think DBZ came out in the 90s when Cartoon Network first got a hold of it.
