What do you think about my Buu Saga gaps?

Do you think the kids became so much stronger in their base forms in one week as for Base Gotenks post to be stronger than SSJ Gotenks pre?

I think it's just an over the top gag. After Piccolo says "We are doomed" the next page shows Goten giggling. It's just intended to be a gag.

I don't think Toriyama is intending to make Goku's Super Saiyan 3 power completely irrelevant yet.

I think Base Gotenks is a total hoax, a total gag and a level of power Toriyama perhaps didn't think too much about, but made it obvious how strong they definitely weren't. Which everyone seemingly took too serious and is now trying to do all these weird mathematical calculations to come up with insanity.

I think the only thing we see time and time again is that Base Fusion is a good deal stronger than the fusers top power. That's the only thing that seems to make sense to me.

Dismissing Base Gotenks power has allowed me to make much more rational decisions, such as assuming Gogeta is a beast and a respected power.

So I was able to come up with a fusion formula that seems way more logical than anything else I've been doing lately.

His absurd confidence is what is a gag, AT made the claims obvious enough to not be taken seriously

Yes, everything that leads up to Base Gotenks or suggests Base Gotenks power other than them being above the Super Saiyan kids is all set up for a gag.

Which would include Trunks and Goten's conversation in the Rosat. After Piccolo says "We're doomed", there is a repeat panel of Goten giggling. I think this is a little wink to the readers that "Hey dudes, don't take this stuff so seriously."

I, too, would like to believe that Base post > SSJ pre is nothing more than a gag; it would make my life easier. But I see no sufficient evidence to believe it.

Or he didn't envision it being as large of a boost as you think it should be. He envisioned Super Saiyan to be a 10x multiplier after all.

Regardless, this doesn't really address how Trunks explicitly stated that their fusion had progressed so much that an opponent they couldn't beat with Super Saiyan before can now be beaten without it. Fusion was presented as something that was not only absurdly powerful but also something that can grow drastically more powerful regardless of whatever gains the fusees make. That would be enough to justify the gains Gotenks made in the RoSaT. Goten and Trunks are extremely gifted, everyone made insane gains in the RoSaT, and fusion amplifies the gains the already-gifted squirts make. The logic follows.
