Speaking of Hokuto no Ken, I've sat down and watched one of the Gaiden movies out of sheer boredom. They got the music score pretty good and the animation is far smoother than the original anime (big surprise), but the voice acting really sucks...

Indeed, the animation is just awesome and Rei VS Roah [Heart of Madness] and Kenshiro VS Roah was just awesome. You could add also Kenshiro's ressurections, that shit is so badass! :donovan

He's talking about the Gaiden movies made in the late 00s, not the 1986 film.

Bump. Been reading the first two volumes of Battle Angel Alita recently after hearing a lot of good things about it. Seems like a decent cyberpunk story thus far, though it'll need to get a lot better in the remaining 7 volumes to be on the pedestal most hype it up to be.

Read a few more chapters of Alita today and it's becoming quite a promising series. I like the world and the Motorball Arc, whilst not outstanding, was good for the short arc that it was due to not being a clear good vs evil affair and both sides had equal justification for winning.
Also reread a few chapters of Dragon Ball's Saiyan, Freeza and Boo Arcs to double check a few things in the battle power thread I was challenged to make.

Moteki by ma gal Mitsuro Kubo, author of Again!! (which I don't think I've even finished)

Pr good. I always liked how shounen or seinen written by a woman feel well-balanced (Dorohedoro, FMA). The character development feels realistic and is afforded to conflicting characters and it's not too macho to the point of getting dumb.

Binged a few chapters of Battle Angel Alita: Last Order and can safely say that whilst I've yet to complete it, the Zenith of Things Tournament is easily the best tournament arc in any manga I've seen.

Not watching but reading. I've been reading HNK just an hour earlier and I just finished the volume 1. I must say Shin's arc is a lot shorter than the anime version. The joker stuffs were cut off and that submarine whatever that was in the anime which made Ken a lot stronger. I'm still not used to on its art style but will get into in no time.

The only current series I keep up with right now are One Piece and Attack on titan.

I'm also re-reading the Alicization arc of SAO in preparation of the new season.

That's about it.

Finished reading Hokuto No Ken's Jagi arc. Jagi is so pathetic and ignorant. It's like he barely learned for a month and was outclassed by his other brothers. Now it's time for me to read about Toki.

Finished reading Hokuto No Ken Part 1. Hate when love is the main theme of the show but I have no regret. :cry

It at least justified having love and hope be so prevalent since with such a bleak setting, holding on to such ideas was heavily important for the characters.

I think Souther shouldn't be given a backstory in order to create a sympathy for him. Dude deserves to die for his actions.

Read the first volume of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. It seems to be an improvement on the original in terms of fleshing out the setting with decent hints of realism such as the MS training facility or some subtle actions in Char's characterisation.

CC, man, tell me Ashita no Joe gets better... I'm at episode 15 and am struggling with it, really.

Think this would need to be posted in the "What have you been watching" thread.

It gets far better once the Prison segment ends (which I think is about episode 20 or so).
