What's the weakest a Super Saiyan 1 can be?

Episode Of Bardock notwithstanding, how weak can you be and still become a Super Saiyan, in your opinion?

Well... if you take the implications of SSJ Kid Trunks < Base Future Gohan seriously, then pretty damn weak. But in general I think the Namek tier of Base power is around what it takes. Vegeta thought even Goku at 60,000 could do it, but that was just guesswork.

But seriously, I think you at least have to be beyond natural Saiyan limits, which is like 10,000 at most.

I don't know about the in-universe question, maybe Goku is just different to other Saiyans and everyone has their own.

in-universe, all the hype would at least imply a Super Saiyan would be above First Form Freeza. I'd say 50,000 for a Base Saiyan is required.

SSJ becomes easier to acquire the stronger you become... and anger isn't a requirement... only a shortcut.

I couldn't stand it. I've seen bits and pieces but couldn't really get through those early eps. I do come across a lot of information just by chance... it's not the greatest of things but I try and appreciate what I can.

Yeah, I'm of similar opinion. I tried to give it a chance at the beginning, but the ebola I received from episode 5 took over half a year to recover from. I watch it now due to having no life and always being bored.

The only reason I gave it another chance (as opposed to seeing a random clip here and there... or catching a comment on a forum) was because I found out a guy at work was into Dragon Ball... and we would both just watch it to have something to chat about come Monday.

If you admit to Goku Jr being weaker than DB Goku, how can you justify Goku not becoming Super Saiyan at Krillin's death? Or other emotional moments in the series before Namek?

Or do you believe he always had "THE DRAGONBALLS ARE A THING" in the back of his mind and that he was convinced Piccolo died moments before?
