According to Daizenshuu 4 the Tenkaichi Budokai is always held at May 7th. Perfect Files say GT started in year 789, so it must have ended in 790 since you need to collect the Dark Dragon Balls in under a year. It’s a 5 months gap at most.

That's what I thought too, though it feels like the entirety of GT takes place within a very short amount of time. I'd have to assume there were longer gaps in time than it appeared.

Only for the first arc, the black star dragon balls and the transition to the Baby Arc. Everything else? There's a short gap between baby and 17 arc and shadow dragons happens literally right after 17 arc ends chronologically too.
