Why did Vegeta ask Goku if he went to kill him in the M8?

When Vegeta meets Goku on the planet where he was going to be on the new Planet of the Saiyans, Vegeta asks Goku if he has gone to kill him.

Why did Vegeta ask that? Goku was much more powerful than Vegeta in the M8, but Goku had no reason to kill Vegeta.
