1. It’s too simplistic.

2. It hasn’t aged well.

3. The cash cow has been milked completely dry.

4. The franchise itself has sucked ever since GT.

5. Super killed the franchise.

I will elaborate further if asked.

I’m glad Super revived the hype for the franchise, but it sort of left the series. They’re squeezing to tell more stories without altering the ending.

The cool thing about EoZ was that Goku was the strongest, he took Oob in to have his one final battle and then pass the torch. But now there’s dozens of guys infinitely above him and he’s not ready to retire yet.

I wouldn’t say the cash cow is dry though. Dragon Ball still makes as much money as ever.

Don't even get excited when I hear something new about DB because I know it will be about lazy-ass DBS.

Just pretend Super and GT never happened. Also, I suggest you read Salagir's Dragon Ball Multiverse -- it respects the original way more than Super and GT do.

A lot of people don't like the idea of Goku prioritising training Uub over spending time with his family.

Though on a character level, it's such a Goku thing to do. Being a mentor to the younger generation was a seed planted back in the Cell Arc, with the risky bet on Gohan. Then carried over to the Buu Arc, with the gamble on Gotenks (and on a less direct level, Gohan again). You never know what type of maniac will pop up next, so better stay prepared.

Goku is content with people being above him because it acts as motivation for him to get stronger. He's not the type to sit back and be bitter about it. It's a never-ending grind.

That’s exactly my problem. Goku training Oob was because there was no one stronger than Boo, so Goku had to take Boo and train him to find a new challenge. EoZ is the ending of the Boo Saga so sandwiching a role series before that with folks Goku never surpasses isn’t quite working.

I am pretty sure the EoZ will be retconed, especially with the revelation that Oob has God ki.

I actually see that as a plus since it gives respect to Buu's power. A quality that Buu had (especially Super Buu and Kid Buu) is that they posed a threat even to those that could, in theory, supposedly finish them. That's why Goku encouraged everyone to train in case they have to go through that again.

It also allows the people of Earth to have a lengthy period of peace before another major villain comes around. The EoZ from back then could remain as its own thing, and be separate from a new version if they want to go down that route.

The red pill take is when you realise Dragon Ball was never really that good, just popular and influential due to its age.
