Would you say Gon meeting Ging atop.of the highest tree would be a satisfactory ending to the journey? It leaves some things to be answered, but I feel it wraps up well Gon and Killua's adventures.

Its the ONLY ending Hunter X Hunter is going to get. :ladd
Unless Togashit dies of back pain like Miura and the final chapter is a blue ball where Kurapika was about to meet up with Hisoka to discuss a potential alliance (to be released sometime in the 2040's) :donovan

If Togashit actually died and one of his assistants started handing in chapters on a weekly basis, I will fall to my knees and thank God.

It wouldn't be a good ending, especially if the Beyond Netero events were still in place rather than being omitted like in the 2011 anime, but it'd serve as the best cutoff point we have right now if viewing the core thread of the series as Gon trying to find Ging. A lot of character arcs could've been left without continuation without heavily damaging the narrative such as Kurapika already having gained some catharsis at the end of Yorknew, though it cutting off with the opening to this new world of adventure is about as much of a blue balling of the audience as the Toriko manga's ending (the difference being that HxH had potential and good arcs whereas Toriko didn't :ladd ).
At the very least, it'd still be more satisfying than the conclusions half of the Battle Shonen type of manga provide (Togashi's previous hit work included), but that's not saying much.
