...a million times more interesting, if it had been about Yusuke's life before getting hit by the car. The first ten or so minutes of the series are better than anything that came after. You had delinquent manga before I think, but not as many that were somewhat serious dramas, but instead they were comedies I think. Yu-Yu-Hakusho would have been perfect as some-what of a mix.

The dick-head teachers that laughed at him (even at his funeral). Including the gai that tried to get him suspended or something for "stealing" those other delinquents' purses.

Skipping classes. Why? Misunderstood?

Everyone being scared of him for some/no reason.

His home life with his mother being difficult and their relationship.

Takenaka-sensei and him trying to steer him toward a better path.

Keiko and Kuwabara and the others.

All of this is million times more interesting than generic shounen-series it turned-out to be.

@Symbiote ?

I agree. The beginning of Yu Yu Hakusho is actually almost as bad as the Three Kings Arc. Togashi had nothing planned.

When it comes to a supernatural series, Bleach had way more potential in the beginning than YYH did for example, although the execution of it after Soul Society ended was very poor.

Yeah and it was better than anything that came after (once Yusuke returned to life I think).

Chapter Black is the only Story Arc in YYH that was actually good.

Maybe even a-bit afterward was good, but once they start fighting the Rando-gai I think it goes downhill completely IIRC.

Basically everything in the Reikai Tantei arc was pointless and the Three Kings arc was a literal parody of better shonen like Dragon Ball/Z, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Saint Seiya and itself in previous arcs :ha

YYH did to its credit have better art than HxH, when Togashit could be bothered to try at least. Reikai Tantei arc artwork >>>>>>>>>> Hunter Exams artwork.

I feel like 10 year old me wouldn’t have liked a teen drama anime. :idk
Perhaps, but then again you’re just watching a poor meng’s DragonBall otherwise. I just think it was much more interesting when it was about the human relationships which there were still some of until fighting completely took-over.

Back then everything was a poor man’s Dragon Ball, especially if Toonami was how you watched all your anime. They played DB and YYH together back then.
