I'm really enjoying the amount of tension in the manga so far. The several chapters of Rin trying to get through the Sekisho were some of the most tense moments yet despite being a rather innocent situation.

Preferred the beginning of Vagabond but Blade is good.

BotI at least doesn't go downhill and has an actual ending, even though parts of the prison arc that you'll soon reach have mixed reception due to the gory and overdetailed aspects of the exposition.

Up to chapter 97 near the beginning of the prison arc that Kenshi mentioned. So far he's right about the consistency of the story. I've enjoyed all of it.

Nah apparently manga see is only left to right. I'm sticking with it since it's the official scans and are good quality. Kenshi said it can be found in right to left elsewhere.

Prison arc has definitely felt like a step back to me. I'm finding it hard to give a shit about Burando and even Habaki. Habaki hasn't really had any development and just appeared in the story as some powerful boss. Hopefully the plot gets past this soon. I hope Habaki gets used more effectively from here on out.

Prison arc does introduce us to a hell of a badass villain later on, but that's about all it was good for. Definitely the low point of the series, but it's essential to expound on the concept of immortality.

I've been reading this for the past week or so and just finished the prison arc. The pacing was pretty slow and it got a bit convoluted near the end, but overall I am enjoying it thus far. My biggest gripe is that the fights can be a bit hard to follow sometimes, but the characters and story more than make up for that I think.

Agreed. Sometimes the art can be difficult to follow. The story picks up again after the prison arc. I've only got a handful left until I've finished the manga. Spoiler incoming:

I'm currently reading Abayama vs Giichi. The fight isn't over but it seems to be implied that Abayama will lose as he said Giichi was not tiring out despite losing. It's been a very good fight so far and Abayama has proven to be well above my expectations, but I'm not sure I like the fact that he's fighting Giichi at all. Weren't he and Hyakurin expelled from the Mugai Ryu? Why are they still helping Habaki? It seemed a little too convenient that the second strongest guy on that side appeared to fight Abayama at that moment.

Are you guys gonna read the Bakumatsu arc sequel? I didn't hear that it was very good and there's only 10 chapters translated atm on mangasee, but the ending to the original left room for more adventures for Manji, so I wouldnt advise against it.

I think Abayama should've won the fight against Giichi. At the very least have it be a double kill or something.

Abayama was pretty ridiculous for being 60 years old lol
