1. I heard two or more ghibli films (like howl's moving castle) have way less silence in the English BGM than in the Japo one, because they were advised that Americans wouldn't be as ok with silent scenes. Reminds me of Falcouner inserting loud music into a bunch of DBZ scenes for which Toei/Kikuchi had chosen silence or quiet music.

2. You like these in general? I've actually only seen Grave of the Fireflies in 2011-12 (directed by Isao Takahata. I didn't think it was all that) and some of English Princess Mononoke (directed by Miyazaki. Some kid called Gabriel brought it to school but we skipped parts).

3. Do you have any thoughts or preferences regarding the differences between the works of the studio's directors, Miyazaki and Takahata?

4. Do you recommend any, and why?

From start to finish I think I've seen three or four. I really love the aesthetic and the fantastical elements of the films. I watched Spirited Away with my girlfriend and found it to be charming and touching, and it looks fantastic for a 2001 animation, I'm guessing they remastered it or something.

I think I watched Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo and Kiki's Delivery Service. I didn't like Ponyo but the rest are decent.

Ghibli is basically Japanese Disney. It is charming and relaxing.

Also, I think Wind Waker was inspired by Spirited Away, as one area of the film looks a lot like Outset Island.

Do they have life lessons or food for thought any more than Disney movies? How would you compare them to Your Name or sad Disney movies like Bambi/Lion King?

Honestly, I've never seen any of them. I'm sure they're well-made animated movies, but they seem boring to me. I prefer action.

But Hayao Miyazaki is a G. See sig.
