Are the Strawhats actually a stronger crew than the crews of Whitebeard, Big Mom and Kaidou?

Are they stronger? Put it this way: there are four islands - one with the SHs there, the others with the crews of WB, Big Mom and Kaidou. One Piece characters or teams have to go through one island and fight the crews - which one would most crews, marines, Admirals or captains have the best chance of getting through without dying, assuming they've pissed off all the crews?

Do you think the old Yonkou actually became Yonkou due to being the strongest crews, or because of other factors like being good at recruiting allies (same as Luffy)?

I think the Monster Trio, Jinbe, and maybe Franky in general are stronger crew members than the crew members of Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaidou.

Tough question.

Whitebeard > Kaido > Big Mom in terms of overall crew strength. However, Whitebeard himself is old and sick so might not be at the level of the other two.

With the Straw Hat crew, Zoro and Sanji are the strongest subordinates among these 4 Yonko crews. But there's a large gap between them and Jinbei, who is one of the weaker commanders. The Whitebeard crew have less disparity in the strength of their members, Jozu/Vista/Ace.

And with Luffy himself, while he's Yonko level in power when at max, he cannot maintain that level for an extended period. So he's probably less of a threat than Kaido/Big Mom, and perhaps Whitebeard overall.

So I think Whitebeard crew remains on top.

What about the weaker members? The SHs don't have big crews, compared to the other crews. Even for a super strong character, having to deal with Nami and Usopp (examples of weaker characters) on top of the monster trio would make things make a lot tougher. Especially weaker members with devil fruit powers, against anyone without haki. Eg post-skip Chopper would still struggle with pre-skip Smoker, I guess.

Well with Kaido it's objectively true. The straw hats pretty much took out all of Kaido's strongest subordinates themselves.

It's really hard to judge pre-time skip yonko strength with post time skip strength, but outside of Marco, Whitebeard and Jozu which of Whitebeard crew at marineford stand out as being on par?

Big Mom's crew is the best argument, so few of them got really good showings outside of Perspero and Katakuri. If you put the straw hats in a lineup with the ten strongest members of her crew and made one on one fights they'd probably lose half of them.

I figured WB's crew has other strong members, who are comparable to vice admirals and could be a problem by adding depth to the crew, in the same way that the marines strength comes from their depth of decently strong combatants and not just their top combatants. We see that when Shanks arrived on WB's ship while emanating haki, at least 14 unnamed members of WB's crew remained conscious. Blackbeard wasn't even a captain of any of WB's divisions, but still somehow killed Thatch and scarred Shanks when Shanks was already strong.

They also had Vista who was respected by Mihawk and strong enough to hold him off.
