GT is way worse since it's an actual TV series with over 60 episodes, plus it forgets anything between SSJ and SSJ4 is a thing except in the fight against Baby Vegeta. The movies at least have the excuse that the fight needs to be dragged on for half an hour and going SSJ should be dramatic (although once they acquired SSJ2/3 it stopped being legit).

I think Toriyama forgot SSJ2 was a thing until he reread the Cell saga in preparation for the Future Trunks arc lol
I'd rather Future Trunks in terms of entertainment value because shit like the GOAT Zamasu gay hug scene = pure comedy gold. Shadow Dragons has a far better ending and was an overall probably better story, but it feels just like an overdramatized version of the end of the Boo saga tbh, so it's less fun to rewatch. That and while anime SSJB Vegetto was overly nerfed imo, he still had a better fight than that manchild SSJ4 Gogeta
