I decided to make a thread about Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend Of Korra, which I both believe to be Anime, but that's up to debate.

Who here has watched Avatar? If so, how did you like it? I think it breaks away from all common tropes other Anime have and that makes it more interesting to watch in comparison.

I don't have faith in future installments being good after the trash that was Korra.

Avatar isn't anime. And yes, it's very good. Korra was mediocre. The comics are hit or miss.

Avatar is in the Anime section in Movie Trading Company.

My favorite characters are Iroh, Zuko, and Toph. In that order.

Anime is Japanese animation. Avatar isn't Japanese.

Iroh and Zuko are the only good characters among the good guys. Katara reminds me too much of a Hollywood anti-damsel stereotype who's always bitching about sexism and raising her voice and Toph becoming the strongest Earthbender in the world (or up there) from like a year or less of fighting in underground matches is overboard. I liked Azula before she went crazy just over two teenage bitches betraying her and started seeing fucking hallucinations because Ozai wouldn't take her with him to bomb the Earth Kingdom, while Aang frequently doesn't take his duty seriously enough (seriously the nigga was having a beach party days before his plan to fight Ozai lol) and just has everything work out because he's the MC.

The plot prior to the Fire Nation season is decent though, it managed to not make Spirit Oasis water and other plot devices too OP unlike shitty kids' novels like Parry Hotter and the Plot Device Time Watch That's Never Used Again. Not the absolute masterpiece people laud it as but one of Nickelodeon's best cartoons. The finale was lackluster and I can't understand what Roku was smoking when he said Aang could never beat Ozai if he were powered by the Sozin Comet.

In general, Zuko is a much better main character than Aang. Zuko has the best character development in the series while Aang remains stagnant for the most part. And other than the power haxxes, Toph is a pretty good character.

I also think that viewing Avatar as a masterpiece is over the top. It is one of the best cartoons in general, but I can think of a handful of Anime that are better than it for example, like Fullmetal Alchemist and Attack On Titan.
