The gag in the Rosat is clearly just meant for laughs, it's not designed to destroy the entire power structure of the manga like it would if it was actually serious.

You're right, but even if Gotenks is a gag character, the Base Saiyan wank in the Boo Saga is still a law of the universe, and that includes the 28th Budokai, where Base Goku and Base Vegeta are both above Fat Boo and Base Goku is on par with Oob who is on par with Kid Boo.

Gotenks in general is a gag character, and the Boo arc isn't consistent because Toriyama never cared about that as the story progressed. He's always been about adventure and comedic shit. DB would have never diverted to more serious action content if not for his editors directing him in that direction. Boo arc was more or less him doing what he wanted as the final arc of the time, regardless of what editors steered him toward. Crazy, silly shit that isn't all meant to be analyzed.

Ultimate Gohan > SSJ3 Gotenks > SSJ Gotenks Post >>>>> Base Gotenks Post > SSJ3 Goku > SSJ Gotenks Pre

That is what I normally end up with.

But if I were to apply FeatsofPower's logic instead, it would be considerably lower than that.

Yes, I don't think it's implied at all. No one misjudges Super Buu by 50x. Super Buu's initial power is tremendous, but it isn't leagues beyond Goku. Super Buu is so strong that it requires Ssj Gotenks to power up incredibly, by say 1.5-2x or so. I think that's all.

It's almost like there's a pause in seriousness with Base Gotenks and then we get the real fight with Ssj Gotenks.

Goku isn't 1,000s of times beneath Gohan, they wouldn't be able to fuse.

I think Goku is probably something like 50x weaker than Gohan or so, that's about fair I'd say.

What parts of the Buu Saga do you find bad power level wise besides Gotenks?

I get what you're saying now. It's like since Gotenks is a gag character, he didn't take the fight seriously at first and fought in Base. Like you see some of the Saiyans do in Toei Movies.

Yes, pretty much. Goten is even doing a silly little laugh in the next panel after Base Gotenks miserably fails against Super Buu. It's nearly an identical feeling to when Base Gotenks fails against Fat Buu.

For Base Gotenks, I think we have to discard some stuff and keep others.

Base Gotenks > Ssj Kids, this should be kept. Base Fusion > Individual Fusers seems to be a repeated theme time and time again. This we can hold onto dearly.

For Base Gotenks to have any confidence at all against Fat Buu, he needs to be much stronger than Vegeta, this is just unreasonable. Krillen even thinking Gotenks has a chance based on his confidence alone seems stupid. Krillen should be able to sense ki, but he's acting out of character because someone needs to be used to set up the gag.

This is repeated with Piccolo in the Rosat. Toriyama is forced to use Piccolo to entertain the gag because there's no one else.

The gag literally doesn't work unless Base Gotenks is portrayed as being stupidly powerful in both segments.
