Base Luffy > Big Mom?

I don’t think this is the case obviously but it’s still an interesting statement to make. Could he not have gotten the same kind of excitement from fighting Big Mom?

He fought Big Mom for days in Wano though. I think all of the statements surrounding Luffy living up to Kaido's most respected fighters are excluding Big Mom. It's hard to read them any other way. It's probably because they are in an alliance so it goes without saying that they hold high respect for one another.

But he implies Big Mom can't go "toe to toe" with him. Even though they fought for days.

I just don't think it makes sense. Big Mom is constantly referred to as an equal to Kaido throughout the arc. When the Samurai are introduced to her she's said to be another Kaido more or less. It wouldn't make sense for Base Luffy to be ahead of her when he still needs G5 to equal Kaido. That implies a huge gap between Big Mom and Kaido.

Big Mom and him didn't fight properly. They played, they didn't fight. He means a fight with real intent to defeat the other person and crush their dreams. And they fought a long time ago. Or Kaido has severe time blindness or dementia, so he's not sure how long it was. Luffy was supposed to say how long, but he didn't realise Kaido wanted help.
