Emerald. It's already better than Firered which was better than R/S. Crystal is overrated in comparison, really.

I'd say Platinum added the most shit, including parts that were for some reason missing in Emerald (e.g. the Elite Four and Champion levelling up when the fucking gym leaders do and end up stronger than them). Still, it more or less retread Emerald's steps.

Emerald also gets some points for fixing the low IV glitch for roamers (was gay as hell how you'd spend hours catching your dog or Lati only for it to end up dog~~shit), and hilariously enough yielding a ridiculously exploitable cloning glitch.

I would send my vote to Emerald, but I never got around to playing Platinum.

You're honestly not missing out on much if you already played Diamond/Pearl.

The only thing you're missing out on is more free Pokemon to be honest. The boss, gym and elite 4 battles are a little more challenging too but not by much.

Platinum for me, since the Distortion World section was an interesting segment, as well as Cyrus' character being fleshed out more. It also helps that they added more Pokemon to the regional Pokedex, since making some of the new cross-gen evolutions exclusive to the post game in DP was pretty stupid.
