Cell did not return to the Earth?

Cell regenerates back into his Super Form as in canon. Sensing his newfound power, he is confident he can beat what he'd seen from Gohan prior, but then he remembers what Gohan had said about his anger always bubbling out and hesitates, thinking that might not have been the full extent of how powerful the half-Saiyan could become if pissed off enough.

He decides to leave and head off to space to train and also find out what his true purpose in the universe actually is.

What happens then?

Scenario 1: Cell comes across Babidi's spaceship at some point during his trip.

Scenario 2: Cell explores the universe whilst training, coming across many of the races and people shown in GT, the movies and DBS.

I like the Anime's idea of Cell's motives after he destroys the Earth. After he kills Gohan and blows up the Earth in the process, or in this case after he regenerates and becomes Super Perfect Cell, he just moves onto other Planets to destroy.
