As I hope most of you know, Luffy and Roger share the same dream that isn't simply to become Pirate King, which has yet to be revealed.

Was this what Luffy and Roger said?

Interestingly tho, Luffy said that Vivi was naive when trying to save everyone, saying people just die. I think they changed his outlook on things a little.

I think this is an extension of Luffy's desire to be Pirate King for the ultimate freedom, and his mind the greatest freedom is having all he can eat, since meat is his #1 priority in any given situation (to the point that he woke up from a coma in the Thriller Bark arc when hearing of meat). Shanks taught him to value his friends more than he does himself, so there you go.

Perhaps "eating" refers more to "having enough money and resources to not be in want or starve" moreso than the literal act of consuming favorite foods
