He can apparently see a full 10 seconds into the future. How do you even fight against that?

Does that not make him practically invincible?

If we pretend Oda is consistent with the logistics of his own power system when applying them to fights, then it would seem so. But we don't know enough about Blackbeard and Imu's powers to say there's no true counter to it.

Blackbeard vs Shanks would be an interesting battle. Blackbeard takes more physical damage due to his fruit, and his whole thing up to this point is his ability to nullify devil fruits. Obviously he has WB's fruit now as well but I'd be curious to see how he would fight Shanks.

I don’t think so because he was visibly surprised whenever Yasopp shot Bartolomeo.

Is future sight reading minds or is it actually seeing the future? Or does it vary from user to user?

For example, in Skypeia Enel couldn't future sight Luffy's arms when bounced off a surface, because there was no intent behind their trajectory. So could the same thing be used against Shanks? Could Shanks foresee Usopp's traps attacking him or exploding, if they were put there well in advance?

What about if it's actions performed with pure muscle memory and without conscious decisions? Like ultra instinct? Can he foresee those?

And even if he can read the person's spirit and not just their conscious mind, is 10 seconds even useful in an actual fight? A lot of the actions aren't planned 10 seconds in advance. He could see Kidd attacking the ships in advance, because Kidd was already planning his whole attack. But say if Shanks is standing next to Mihawk and then says "your huge sword is compensating for something" and then Mihawk is like how dare ya punk and attacks him 1 second later, I'm guessing Shanks can't foresee that 10 seconds in advance, because the thought intention only started in Mihawk's mind and spirit 1 second earlier. So he can read a pre-planned attack sequence or can read if Mihawk thinks "if I do Slash A, if during that Shanks does Attack A I'll do Movement A and Slash B to counter it, but if Shanks does Attack B I'll instead do Movement B and Slash C to counter", so basically he can read preplanned contingencies that are already in the user's spirit.

I'm actually not sure, but I feel like it has to be seeing into the future. Regular Observation haki can already read someone's intentions so I feel like future sight has to be predicting their intentions.

In the Skypiea example, Enel would be able to see that Luffy was about to attack that way with future sight. Whether or not he would be able to tell exactly where the trajectory of his attacks would land might depend on how far into the future he can see. But regardless, it would allow him to quickly formulate a plan to shut down that attack.

Maybe the most advanced fighters can hide their intentions by attacking without emotion, which would nullify future sight. I have no idea how that would work though.

Also worth noting that even though Luffy had pretty advanced future sight against Kaido, he noted that he still couldn't dodge his attacks even with it. So maybe that implies that even Shanks' ability wouldn't make him invincible in a fight.

You can see that even being able to see attacks coming doesn't mean you can dodge them if they're fast enough.

This is how Luffy beats the Hancock sisters on Amazon Lily, and how Snakeman is able to overwhelm Katakuri at first.
