I don't think so. AT even called the anime version rather weak.

Why nobody who isn't Goku and Vegeta (Like Elder Kaioshin or Enma Daio) suggest bringing Gohan to fight Buu? I know the whole point of Kid Buu was to make the main man beat the final villian, but is there an in universe explanation for the whole "If Goku can't, nobody can!" hype? Or it's just good n'old plothole?

The best I could think of is one, it was the heat of the moment thing. Kibitoshin, Elder Kaioshin, and Dende weren't thinking about Gohan and Gotenks when they revive them and was thinking about the Genki Dama plan.

Second, Vegeta didn't wanna bring them because at that point Vegeta knew they got absorb and chances were they may be absorb again. Goku probably thought the same thing as he witness both of them being absorb.

Gotenks and Gohan are Toriyamas hidden favorite and underestimated.

He likes the little boys.

What about the whole "If Goku loses, it's the end!" hype? Wouldn't Enma and Baba send Gohan or Gotenks to fight Buu?

Oh! I got nothing to explain that other than the same reason Goku and Vegeta probably didn't want Gohan and Gotenks to fight.

Vegeta didn't want them there because he thought the Earthlings needed to stop Boo this time.

The end is pretty stupid because it's almost pretending as if Gohan and Gotenks don't exist. Vegeta thinks he'll need to kill Mr. Boo before he creates another Boo someday. Goku says without Hercule and Mr. Boo, Kid Boo wouldn't have been stopped. All a bunch of nonsense that goes against everything prior.

The weird thing is that we can't assume Goku and Vegeta received a plot boost because Kid Buu is implied to be weaker than any for of Super Buu.

The Buu Arc turned into even more of a tragedy when Goku was revived. Giving the final battle to Goku was an awful decision aside from the "You're #1" monologue from Vegeta.

I've learned to just accept that the Boo saga isn't the best written saga. A lot of things just don't make sense. Gohan and Gotenks are written out of the plot entirely and it became the Goku show. This is even clear in Super when Vegeta basically says he won't settle for #2 after saying Goku is both #1 in the universe and the strongest Saiyan.

Because Goku and Pure Boo became the strongest at the end. Even Vegeta said it on Super.

At least in Anime, and considering Kid Boo is the 1# Boo in Anime Z, it doesn't come off as a surprise.

Boo arc and BoG has a 5 years gap and it would be ridiculous for Goku not to caught up on Gohan and Gotenks.
