Gap between Cell and Goku. What do you think it is?

Yea, I think they are about equal. Maybe Cell was slightly stronger, I dunno.

I'd say Cell was stronger. He had Gohan pinned to the ground when the Cell Juniors were attacking the Z Senshi, and Gohan was unable to do anything about it. I think if he was equal to Cell, he'd at least be able to fight back against Cell, rather than just sit there doing nothing.

Gohan was stronger than True Speed Cell. When Cell hit him once, he shrugged it off like "that was as powerful as a hit from a toddler" and then he decided to strike back only once, and Cell was in the ground instantly.

I tend to speculate that Cell raised his power a bit after falling on his butt when Gohan kicked him, but you could still make the case that Gohan's preteen brattiness got in the way of him using his full strength even still.

It's tough to say. Gohan looked rage boosted when he kicked Cell, so I'm not sure if it was his full power. I'd like a bigger gap personally.

I don't know. Gohan starts to realize he has a real threat when Cell begins to kick his ass, so the real Gohan shows up and puts Cell down with one kick. I like to think that was Gohan using his full effort. I got the impression that was Gohan's unwillingness to fight that make us think he is weaker than Cell.

Maybe Gohan was subconsciously holding back when attacking Cell like Papasmurf said? I never considered that.

Yeah, I suppose he could have been holding back unintentionally. However a small rage boost also makes sense to me. After Gohan kicks Cell, Cell says "One way or another... I'll find your rage!!!" which implies that he was getting closer to making Gohan rage. Goku then says, "That's it, Cell! Make Gohan mad!!!" implying that we had just seen a glimpse of Gohan's rage boosted power.

No, his power didn't increase. I think that Cell would've mentioned something so important like this. The quote even implies that he only increased speed. I don't see Cell missing an opportunity to prove that he was the "mightiest warrior"

What mainly proves that is the fact that Cell was kicked by Gohan and was in the ground instantly, while Gohan uickly shrugged of a hit from True Speed Cell.

I see, but I don't think Gohan's power increased due to anger until it was noted by Cell when he was watching his friends being beaten by the mini Cells.

He would mention increasing his power anyways, he always mentioned it:

Cell: “Seems you want me to get serious…”
Vegeta: “I thought you already were serious…”

Against Goku, he mentioned increasing his power.

Chapter: 397 (DBZ 203), P14.4
Context: after fighting with Goku for awhile
Cell: “That should be enough warm-up exercise…”

See no reason for why he should not mention it against Gohan. Speed is not correlated to power, so makes sense that Cell can increase his power, suppress his speed.
