Why aren’t they doing it with the old sagas first? DragonBall Bills? Give me a break. It’s barely been 10 years since Battle-of-Gods. Use the new technology to do DragonBall Freeza or Cell or before that. That could benefit from new technology & animation. I assume this Bills thing will be a short movie/special thing which will be movie-length like One-Piece’s Episode of Alabasta & stuff like that.

It was already overkill for the arc to be redone in anime and manga form back in 2015. This is just not needed. What is wrong with the animation in Battle of Gods that would require this to be redone? Their intention seems to be to improve upon the Super anime's version of BoG, but for what purpose? The definitive version of BoG is the film which is already good enough.

Essentially. AT’s writing is the only thing that is canon & every-thing made exclusively for anime I don’t know if to consider canon. The movie is 100% canon. Would it really be that bad to animate Cell-Saga or older sagas with new animation & technology? They could even make them in movie format, if they don’t want to completely re-animate. Just the iconic moments in glorious HD.

Maybe they are saving those ideas for when the franchise is in a worse spot to lure people back in. Dragon Ball is still wildly popular so they probably want to cash in on the younger crowd who love Super. I can't think of any other reason to rehash this arc again. It doesn't make sense.

Especially since the only canon is what AT wrote back-in 2013. You know what they could do. A story on the un-seen time-line. Short series. I know it might be too confusing for some, but so was the truth behind Zamasu/Goku-Black & they did that. It’d be so interesting to see Boo-era characters with different dynamics. Imagine Gohan maybe not even being SSJ in Boo-Saga or Goten & Trunks above Gohan lol. Would Goten even be born in that time-line? Would Goku & Vegeta & Piccolo be the big 3 in that saga instead? That’d make for such an interesting story.

It’s basically Super Kai with adjusted animation and new scenes. Some manga content seemingly too. They are probably gonna do the rest of the series.

It’s gonna be 6 episodes long vs 14 episodes originally.

The movie is 100% canon.

Obviously it was canon when it first came out, but it has since been retconned away by the manga that Toriyama supervised.

Birus didn't use anywhere near 70% of his power against Gokuu, who never absorbed the power of Super Saiyan God.

Yet, AT kept talking about the 70% later too (FnF, even-though that was before DB-Super). Just accept it as getting retconned or Bills straight-up lying & call it a day for that.

If it was retconned, then that means the movie is no longer canon, because that line only appears in the movie.

Furthermore, it was Whis who said it, not Birus iirc.

What-ever. Trunks said #19 & #20 too initially, doesn’t mean the manga is non-canon.

And who said it was AT’s decision to retell it?

They explain that incorporating the theatrical films Battle of Gods and Resurrection ‘F’ into the new television series was Toriyama’s idea, and was part of introducing the characters Beerus and Whis, who the producers deemed essential to the story, to children who may not have already seen the movies.
