Nala wasn't a pushover. She whooped Simba's ass with ease in their first encounter. I'm sure she could've taken Scar better than Simba, who had never had to do anything tough in his life before facing his uncle. Scar wasn't even that tough either, since he was sitting well at his brother's side in the kingdom and then got to sit on his ass the whole time he was the actual king.

I don't think male lions/female lions strength gap is larger than male human/female human. And, just like a well trained female human can
whoop the ass of a lazy man, it can happen with lions.
