Luffy vs Kaido

So do y’all think Luffy truly surpassed Kaido, or was it just a fluke?

I don't know, the narrative kind of points to both being true. On one hand we have Kaido fighting an onslaught of people. Luffy didn't beat him entirely on his own, but it's debatable whether or not the others had a huge impact on Kaido. Law's devil fruit might have for sure.

On the other hand we have Luffy directly telling Kaido that he will surpass him in order to become the Pirate King. Would it make sense for Luffy not to have surpassed him given all of the talk about it?

Well he also said the same thing to Crocodile, although Oda retconned his strength so who knows.

Maybe Luffy has better overall stats but Kaido definitely has greater durability and stamina.

Yeah maybe Luffy's Haki did surpass Kaido's at the end of the fight, but Kaido is such a tank that he should still be able to beat Luffy 1v1 imo.

Kaido and Big Mom hype completely died at Wano. I can't even imagine Mihawk losing to these guys anymore.

It was questionable pre-gear 5. CP0 thought it enough of a possibility to interfere.

He's definitely stronger after his awakening. As for Kaido fighting everyone else, Zoro is pretty much the only person other than Luffy to actually damage him.

How do you define damage? Cause he was definitely hurt by a lot of other people.

They made it through his scales, but Zoro's attack was actually acknowledge by Kaido
