Scenario: Puar does not intervene fast enough. Meanwhile, believing that Goku (who is being beaten up by his men) is too severely weakened to be a threat anymore, Monster Carrot decides to eat the carrotized Bulma.
Part 1-Early DB
Both Yamcha and Goku get mad and punish Monster Carrot and his men the same way as in canon. After that, they forget about their quest for the Dragon Balls and go to train with Roshi. Krillin soon joins them.
Even if Pilaf comes after them in order to obtain Goku's dragon ball, they defeat him easily.
By the time the 21st Budokai begins, Goku/Krillin are as strong as their canon selves and Yamcha is as strong as the Ox King. Yamcha gives Roshi a much harder time in the quarter finals. As a result of this, Roshi is a little more tired during the final match, against Goku, and Goku probably wins the tournament, though that doesn't really make a diference.
The trio keeps staying with Roshi and training. Eventually, the RRA comes after them, wanting Goku's dragon ball. Even with his psychic powers, General Blue cannot defeat all four of them, so the RRA's attack is fended off.
Goku, who dislikes bad guys, decides to go to their headquarters and destroy them. At first, the others try to discourage him from doing so, but, in the end, Roshi acknowledges that the RRA will never leave them alone unless they get the dragon ball. And so, the four of them invade the RRA headquarters. Officer Black is stronger than them individually, but all of them at once are too much for him to handle, until he summons the Battle Jacket. Goku, Yamcha and Krillin stall the foe until Roshi transforms into his buff form and fires a kamehameha, thus killing Black.
3 years later, in the 22nd Budokai, Roshi and Krillin are as strong as in canon, Yamcha is as strong as the Crane Master and Goku's full power is equal to his Match Level in canon. Taopaipai participates in the tournament, taking the place of either Pamput or Man Wolf. With Tao alive, the Crane School holds no special grudge against the Turtle School, though there is still bitterness and rivalry between them.
Tenshinhan wins the tournament (without Chaozu needing to interfrere), but he has decided to have a change of heart by this point anyway. Tao and the Crane Master do not have much time to show their disapproval, since, soon, King Piccolo appears, the same way as in canon.
Goku goes after Tambourine on impulse and, since he's weaker than in canon at this point, is killed, either by Tambourine or, in the best case, by Old Piccolo later.
Roshi and Chaozu die the same way as in canon and Tenshinhan is killed by Drum later. Yamcha is the only Z fighter left alive. He trains hard for the next 3 years while the Crane Master and Taopaipai are just running and hiding.
At around the time the 23rd Budokai took place in canon, Yamcha goes to challenge Young Piccolo. Yamcha wins after a hard fight. Before dying, King Piccolo spits out an egg as in canon and the Piccolo we know is born. For a while, Piccolo Jr does not make a move.
I theorize that, during the 5 years between the 23rd Budokai and the Saiyans Saga in canon, Piccolo devoted a lot of time in developing the Special Beam Cannon. This time, he doesn't, so he has more time to train and, even though he's younger than in canon, by the time Raditz arrives, he's as strong as his Raditz Saga canon self, except he doesn't have the Special Beam Cannon.
After his brief encounter with Raditz, seeing how outmatched he is and since there is no Goku in this universe, Piccolo decides to go to Kami's place and proposes fusion. Kami accepts with a heavy heart, though his presence will eventually soften Piccolo later. In my books, this fusion makes Piccolo equal to Raditz.
Meanwhile, Raditz has gone to find Yamcha, believing that that scouter reading belongs to his brother. Seeing that it's not Goku, he gets disappointed and decides to exterminate life on the planet himself, starting with Yamcha.
Piccolo shows up and an even fight commences, Yamcha just watching, amazed. Eventually, Yamcha decides to help Piccolo and reveals to him Saiyans' weak point (I guess he found out at some point all those years he trained with Goku), so Raditz is killed. Before dying, he laughs and reveals to them that the other two Saiyans are on the way here.
