The Arlong arc never ceases to impress me. Best handling of a simple shounen friendship story there is.

Two chapters in a row ending with a panel of Usopp running gets me every time.

Having Arlong seem to legitimately care about his crew members somewhat is a nice touch, compared to the other generically evil villains in East Blue prior to him, given his backstory and how that placed a large emphasis on the camaraderie between the fishmen pirates.

East Blue is way better during reread. It was terrible the first time I read it.

Not like many series have the narrator point it out like that so don't find the narration cliche
