Vegeta was mostly pumped to beat goku though. If he had to fight piccolo prior he'd go ssj if needed.

Yet we know he outperformed Super Saiyan Goku.

A ridiculously tired one. Why does fatigued SSJ Goku have to be > FP base Goku? They mastered the SSJ form so it has very little strain which explains why he wasn't knocked out of it yet
