A new mythical Pokemon has been announced, Zarude.

It's a Dark/Grass type, which we haven't seen since Cacturne and the Shiftry line in Gen 3. An interesting choice, though a shame it will get stomped by nearly any Bug type.

Also, Game Freak, please give Zarude Sandstorm for the memes.

He looks better than most of the last two gens gave us, and I’ve always liked that type combo.

Everything past gen 4 is trash.

I agree with that except for a few from each gen.

I still can't remember what most Gen 5-7 Pokemon are called

We've now got footage of the Gigantamax forms of the Galar starters for the post-game DLC.

Their designs are decent. Not much of a change to the Pokemon themselves apart from Cinderace, though the additions they get around them that incorporate the main theme of their designs works well. It's fun to see the water starter turn into a sniper on top of high ground.

How does everyone feel about these games? I've considered it, but there's quite a few Pokemon I like that are missing from the games. Some of this giganta stuff looks whack too.

They definitely seem like a step down from other Gens. Not as awful as most of the reports around them made them out to be, but definitely the weakest main series games yet when it comes to delivering the full package. At least Game Freak are doing the sensible thing to expand it via DLC, though it just goes further in showing they were rushed products.
I have yet to play them and doubt I will until they come down significantly in price (along with the Switch).

I definitely don't recommend wasting your money on them. They are quite possibly the worst games in the franchise if you ask me. I'm having a far better time playing through Emerald right now than I did playing Shield. The Dynamaxing is a complete waste of time and annoying af to battle - having to put up with long animations that you can't skip. The region is also the most boring we've seen yet with hardly anything to explore. The post game content is also non-existent. :trash

Also, some of the methods of evolving new Pokemon are some of the most tedious, convoluted ones imaginable. You have to land 3 crits in 1 battle to evolve Farfetch'd into Sirfetch'd, what Alcremie you get depends on how your character spins about and let's not even start with getting Runerigus.

Apparently the new DLC has Pokemon follow you now like in HG/SS/LGPE. Seems inch resting.

The feature only works in the DLC locations though. Just goes to how GF's work ethic is when the main praise for their expansion is a partial retread of a feature implemented for all Pokemon over 10 years ago :ladd.

It's just sad man. I was excited for black and white in late 2010, and I even remember playing a Japanese white rom on Christmas Eve of 2010. I couldn't understand it obviously but I was pretty hyped for the games.

They've just destroyed the franchise for me. Pokémon Snap is more intriguing than whatever the next set of Pokémon games are. I wouldn't even buy Diamond and Pearl remakes if they're just SwSh in a different region. No thanks.

I can't believe Pokemon following you around is a DLC now, and it doesn't even apply to the entire region. What the fuck? Game Freak sure has fallen off a cliff.

It's amazing what game devs were able to do on such weak and bare bones hardware.

I don't think we ought to consider Pokémon a first party title. Mario Odyssey looks and runs great, with tons of callbacks and nostalgia, but also a lot of new, original content. Breath of the Wild is arguably the most ambitious Nintendo game ever and while it had frame rate issues at launch, they fixed it and it runs pretty smoothly now.

SwSh isn't on that level. I know they aren't technically developed by Nintendo, but Pokémon is associated with the brand. It should be on that level but it isn't.

Ridiculous when that feature was present in 2009, but now it is coming back in the form of paid DLC. What a joke lol
