I'm watching a gameplay stream right now and someone spent a lot of time exploring the Wild Area, and because catching pokemon gives you exp he ended up with 6 pokemon around level 20, then in the next town fought his rival who was like level 12. I never minded catching giving you exp before, but now it's terrible design because it de-incentivizes you from exploring the Wild Area out of fear of trivializing the game.

The first gym isn’t even in that massive town. You have to go through all of these cutscenes just to enter the “gym challenge”. Like fuck off, I was expecting that to be the first gym. Waste of time.

Not unexpected. I hope they do as many as they can, though I suspect this project will lose steam quickly.

I don’t see why the game wouldn’t just come with them. Either way based on how simple this game is, I don’t think having the national dex available would impact my enjoyment of the game too much.

I don't care how cheap the games are, that's my money going to Gamefreak.

To my understanding the most fun people seem to have with this game are the high level raids in the postgame. I'm sure with friends that kind of thing is fun.
