Pokemon post-Gen 5 has always been 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Wild area and various QoL changes are the step forward in this case.

The fact that I can quickly cycle through my Pokéballs with the X button mid-battle is appreciated. On the other end, its way too easy to level up and make money. Like three of my Pokemon are level 24 and I don't even have a badge yet.

Yeah cycling through the Poke balls in the battle menu is a good addition. This game needs far more than that unfortunately.

The lowest level on my team is 21 and I’m still in the first wild area. The first gym better have level 30 Pokemon lol

Why can’t you catch the higher level Pokemon in the wild? So dumb.

it's kinda weird that Leon uses a Charizard, too. Why not give him a new, gen 8 Pokemon?
To be fair, Gen 6 also had this with Diantha's main Pokemon being Gardevoir and the only thing to tie it to its generation was, like Leon's Charizard the generation's main gimmick. Gen 2 also had this with Lance's team being entirely Gen 1 Pokemon.

Pretty sure this feature has been available since Gen 6, or at the very latest Gen 7.

I haven’t seen 1 memorable Gen 8 Pokemon yet. Probably why Leon uses Charizard lol

Corviknight has a decent design. The rest of them, however, are pretty much dozens of unmemorable designs or lesser versions of better Pokemon.

The only Pokemon that I’ve seen so far that I like is the steel bird. The starters are trash. The early wild Pokemon are horrific. It better improve from here.

I wouldn’t say I hate the game by any means. It’s a good time killer at least, but the lack of fresh ideas are severely bringing it down.

Soundtrack is mediocre so far. The wild area music is reminding me of one of the old victory roads.

I think the pokeball thing is either new or Gen 7. I played a lot of Y so I'd be surprised if I missed that.

It's just strange to me that they choose to focus on a gen 1 Mon when you could just as easily put a gen 8 one there. Give him a Scorbunny or a Corviknight or something.

Speaking of Corviknight, it's definitely my favourite new Pokemon and probably my favourite bird mon. The design is just perfect.

the only track that I can recall is the battle theme, and I'm pretty sick of it. :troll2

I’m doing the same thing with Growlithe right now. I didn’t think of that move teacher though. That will help.

So I'm guessing the Gen 8 Move Relearner doesn't require Heart Scales then?
I knew they were making Gen 8 overly easy, but damn...

That's really dumb, with the stone evolutions. It was always dumb that they just stopped learning moves when you evolved them before. The only ones that do are split evos. Just let them have normal level-up moves ffs lol. It's dumb now that they can just remember all of their pre-evolution's moves at level 10. I get that it was originally incentive to not evolve them right away but they just took that incentive away anyway.
