So most of the Pokemon still won't be in the game anyway? That's gay, considering you could still transfer Pokemon not in the Alola Dex in Generation 7. I doubt it's an issue of memory either, considering it being a game on the Switch should give it FAR more memory than a handheld like the 3DS.

It definitely has nothing to do with memory, considering the Gen 6 sprites were originally tested for consoles and had their quality condensed down to fit the 3DS' memory. Nintendo are simply being lazy, as well as probably trying to make as much money as they can by implementing this system with other games.

Everyone's been asking for Gen 4 remakes and they coincidentally put hardly any Gen 4 mons in the Galar Dex. Seems a bit coincidental.

To be fair, Generation 2 and 3 only got one Pokemon that have Galarian forms essentially (Corsola and the Zizagoon family).

The next Pokémon game definitely needs the full Dex and the ability to transfer from 3DS to Switch. They need to stop a yearly release schedule. People don't care if they need to wait years for a great game, case in point: Luigi's Mansion, Zelda, Mario, Metroid.

They still had quite a few returning Pokemon by comparison to Gens 4 and 5 though.

Generation 5 got more returning Pokemon than Generations 2 or 3 from what I can tell?

Might be. Hard to remember some of the returning Pokemon, though Gen 4 seems to have gotten the short end of the stick, followed by probably Gen 6.

Generation 6 only had like 70 Pokemon in total, lol. It was so limited that they had to force Mewtwo and the Kanto legendary birds to be in the game lmao.

Shigeru Ohmori's reasoning behind taking away the option to turn off Exp Share:

“Those who have it turned off want to train one specific Pokemon. We thought: is there a way to achieve that? There is, simply by putting the rest of your Pokémon in the PC.”

what a clown lol

To be fair, it's at least a vast improvement for some problematic Pokemon. After all, who wants to keep switching in a Magikarp? :troll

Exp Share as a hold item was great for leveling up newly added pokemon or trash mons like Magikarp. Even with the new Exp Share it was fine because once you didn't need it anymore you can turn it off (but newly added pokemon will take longer to catch up).

It's definitely a helpful item (though I've done my fair share of Gen 6/7 runs without it entirely). Their reasoning for removing the option to turn it off is just dumb. As long as they rebalance the exp gain and enemy levels around it'll probably work out (it seems they've done the former) but there is no downside to giving the player options.

They'll probably make the level cap for certain plot points higher to balance things out, considering they did that to some extent in X/Y (eg. Wulfric having the highest levelled Pokemon for a main story Gym Leader), though Gen 7 certainly did backtrack on that.

Starters look like cancer. I'mma make sure to release it when I get a decent pokemon.

Yeah, Exp Share as a hold item is fine with me because it helps level the trashmons and it's optional. I guess I don't like it being mandatory this time around. It makes it so you never have to really use your whole party.

I'd say that'd depend how Dynamaxing and the other new mechanics transition into amping up the difficulty. If they put in a boss/legendary on par with Ultra Necrozma then I can see why they'd make EXP Share mandatory.

I'd honestly probably be cool with a lot of this stuff if they were just more transparent from the start and didn't try to come up with weird excuses

I can't really defend not having a full Dex in future entries. I don't mind with Sword and Shield in part because it's the first gen on Switch, but by the time gen 9 comes around, there really is no excuse to not have every mon, especially after backlash.
