Through 54 chapters. Part 3 is definitely better than I remember it being. Not sure if I'd say it's better than part 2 at this point.

Definitely wouldn't say it's better than Part 2, though I will say the difference in quality isn't that great and Part 3 is significantly better than a lot of people give it credit for, considering a lot of the common complaints of it are pretty easy to counter. Both are still far from the peak of JoJo though.

It's entertaining enough. The story leaves much to be desired. Random stand users continuously appearing during the journey to Egypt has already gotten old. Aside from Avdol's death there really haven't been any impactful moments, and he was killed off in 2 panels :ha

I expect there will be more death in the future but as of now things have been too easy.

Without spoiling much, the sense of tension and danger dramatically increases once the group gets to Egypt. The plot structure, whilst formulaic, is also pretty understandable when considering most of DIO's subordinates are selfish people purely working for money or out of fear that wouldn't really attack as a group (other than Hol Horse and J. Geil) when considering how well they'd work together would purely depend on their synergy in Stand abilities, not to mention the factor of mystery and surprise in which avoiding obvious team ups would be necessary.

Avdol's survival isn't as bullshit as it seems at first glance, considering being stabbed by Hanged Man seemed to make Avdol tilt his head back quite a bit which would've thrown off the bullet's target somewhat. This is also made more apparent in the anime iirc, for what it's worth.

The real problem with the Avdol VS Hol Horse scene in retrospect is how Avdol saved Polnareff at all. Emperor's bullet outsped an armourless Silver Chariot (and an armoured Silver Chariot is already fast enough to block and deflect rays of light), yet Avdol was somehow able to get Polnareff out of the way in time. Even if Avdol was FTL, him running into Polnareff like that should be enough to crush his body from the kinetic energy alone :alex2.

Through 22 chapters in part 4 and I'm not impressed so far. Does it improve? I don't like how there is hardly a main objective yet.

I'm early into part 5 (16 chapters) but I've liked the start moreso than part 4. I'm assuming Giorno is meant to be the villain? If not, at least he's getting fleshed out decently at the start of the manga. Part 4 felt all over the place.

Enjoy it while it lasts, Giorno is one of the more undeveloped main characters

Figures :alex2

That's too bad though as I think part 5 has gotten off to a good start. I'll still keep an open mind while reading it but my expectations are low.
