Excluding remakes and sister games:

1. Pokémon Gold / Silver
2. Pokémon X / Y
3. Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire
4. Pokémon Diamond / Pearl
5. Pokémon Red / Blue
6. Pokémon Black / White

If this was a month ago, I'd probably put RBY higher, but after playing through Yellow, I realized how frustrating Gen 1 is. For some reason things like missing, Confusion, Poison, etc. seem much more common. I also hate how the bag is so unorganized and how fast you run out of room for items (including the PC even).

Black and White make the bottom for me since I really had no interest whatsoever in Unova, I hated the zoomed-in pixel-esque graphics when battling, and the story felt so long and tedious for whatever reason.

Diamond and Pearl are okay I suppose, but the gameplay feels so~~ slowly paced. Sinnoh is a meh region for me, not bad but not great. For me, most of the Gym Leaders / Elite 4 members have nothing special about them and nothing to remember them by. Except for Crasher Wake.

I enjoy Ruby and Sapphire, but their Gym Leaders and Victory Road are the most frustrating. I also dislike the cut off from a LOT of Kanto / Johto Pokémon.

X and Y took time to get used to, but I find them great now. The story doesn't feel as though it drags on forever, the graphics look great, I like the character customization (which I find stupid they didn't keep in ORAS), and I like how convenient breeding for competitive Pokémon is compared to older gens. On a side note I was also glad Mewtwo was added in the post-game.

Gold, Silver, and Crystal remain my favorite games for some reason I can't really explain. For whatever reason I could play through the game(s) so many times without getting tired of them. I really like the fact that there's two regions to travel to and 16 badges to obtain. I mean seriously, why hasn't this idea continued?

Dun u h8 on the Emerald cloning glitch bruh :et

Anyways, my list would probably be

Gen 6 > Gen 4 > Gen 2 > Gen 5 > Gen 1 >= Gen 3

In terms of game enjoyment at the present time. Remakes included, although I've yet to play ORAS. If it were pure enjoyment at the time I purchased the games Gen 2 would top out the charts, but I'd also have to consider that I was never able to make full use of the time capsule or the multiplayer when I had the games. I also remember experiencing a high level of frustration during my first gym in Pokemon Yellow, a game I never even really got further than Koga due to acquiring English ROMs of Red/Blue afterwards.

Ah yeah, forgot about that little gem, though it loses it's flare when it becomes ineffective in transfer over to Gen 4, plus you could just make it far quicker by getting an AR. :et

It's... fairly effective in duplicating legendaries to trade on GTS, but yeah, on DPPt it's not as good due to the 6 Pokemon per day limit which sucks monkey balls and requires multiple Gen 3 game paks to bypass. I didn't even use the GTS until Generation 5 anyway (albeit I abused AR plenty on HeartGold) :et

Anyone think fanboys are getting overhyped over Pokemon GO as usual? I wouldn't expect too much out of a free Android phone game, but a lot of people nearly expect some :hack//sign virtual reality shit out of it after seeing the commercials.

Gen 2 > Gen 3 > Gen 4 > Gen 1 > Gen 5. Haven't played Gen 6 yet, how is it? Better yet how are the Ruby and Sapphire remakes? Those are some of the best games of the series for me and I was looking forward to them more than the actual Gen 6 games.

As far as the games go

Crystal > Emerald >= Heart Gold > Pearl = Ruby/Sapphire > Yellow > Gold/Silver > Leafgreen > Blue/Red > Black

Basically a repeat of the original Ruby and Sapphire with an additional sidequest and more Pokemon. The original games weren't exactly spectacular, in fact they had the least challenge of all the first five generations (the Hoenn Elite Four is a piece of cake with a water/ice type or two [especially Kyogre]) and the limited Pokemon hurt it a lot. But these games change so little from the originals that few flaws are fixed, only removing certain minor gimmicks like being able to skip Winona's gym and accidentally missing the Master Ball in the Magma/Aqua hideout if you didn't get all the items there. Along with the battle tower/frontier being cut out in favor of a rehash of the facility from X and Y, they honestly come off as more of a missed opportunity than anything else. The Platinum-esque legendary bargain sale also seems rather overdone in this game as they provide 5 generations' worth of legendaries in an almost gratuitous fashion.

There was a cloning glitch in Emerald? The only cloning glitch I knew of was Gold and Silver (and Cyrstal?) and Gen 6.

All generations had a cloning glitch except for Generation 5. The Emerald one was infamously easy to utilize, allowing you to clone 5 Pokemon at once with no risk to your game file (although if performed incorrectly [which is hard to intentionally do, honestly], it can delete your entire box).

I'm generally surprised at how few people rank Gen 2 high. I personally found them to be the best games.

Well, they're dated... When it comes to game mechanics, they're still primitive.

They aren't that bad. They may be a bit primitive but I think they still hold up well. I prefer original soundtracks from the original games over their remade counterparts. I like that the remakes have a larger roster. I've played Gen 5 games but Gen 4 is the last generation I actually bought and I haven't played HeartGold in months. I've only caught maybe 250 Pokémon in that game and that's the most I've caught in any game.

I didn't like HGSS that much personally. They seemed pretty lazy for remakes. Aside from adding a bunch of legendaries post-game, there wasn't much that vastly differed or added on to the original games. Something like the Sevii Islands or just brand new area to explore would've been a good addition.

Unfortunately, there probably won't be any Johto games for years, unless a new game adds in Johto as a second region.

I wish I could say they're done with remakes for now but they seem to remake a generation after about 10 years and it's coming up on 10 years that Gen 4 was released so there's that. I kind of figured they'd maybe remake Generation 1 since it's been 20 years or coming on that.

I'd prefer another Gen 1 remake over a Gen 4 remake definitely. Maybe they could remake Yellow as opposed to Red and Blue.

I would LOVE that. I was hoping Yellow would've been remade back when LeafGreen and FireRed were being released. I wish they add something else besides the Sevii Islands. I know some people liked that but I didn't. LeafGreen and FireRed are my least favorite remakes because after you beat the Elite Four there isn't really much left to do after that. With Gen 2 at least you can travel to Kanto and try those 8 gyms. I want to wish you can visit Gen 2 in another Gen 1 remake but that would ruin the continuity of Gen 2 taking place 3 years after the original Generation 1.
