It's shown that both Luffy and Zoro trained so it's reasonable to assume the others did too. Not to mention the fact that he would have powered up yugely after Dressrosa. Just compare the feats of the current group vs Kaido/Big Mom to Luffy taking on a drunk Kaido pre-training.

Also it seems to come down to the same thing you were using to argue - plot. The guys fighting Kaido are the next generation of powerful pirates who will make an impact in the world. They aren't just going to magically reach that level after this war. Not to mention it's as Hyogoro said - Haki blooms in intense combat. They have possibly all gotten stronger in the midst of this battle.

Yeah it's plot armor. Luffy didn't improve his physical stats after Udon, it was mainly advanced Haki training. It's a huge stretch to say Law has more durability than G4 Luffy after just a week of preparation.

But he does. How do you explain Zoro being capable of tanking a combo attack from Kaido and Big Mom and still being capable of unleashing his strongest attack after that. Why couldn't Luffy manage this against drunk Kaido?

Sheer willpower. This isn't anything new in One Piece, you should know this by now. Go read the end of Luffy vs Rob Lucci again.

Except these are completely different scales. Willpower can only take you so far against the Yonko. Kaido praised Luffy's undying willpower in their first fight and he was still capable of one shotting him. Why does he suddenly have more willpower later on? Not consistent.

Your example would be like Alabasta Luffy taking full power attacks from Lucci and Kaku and getting up to produce a Haoshoku coated attack.

Dude it’s said that literally every single bone in his body is broken. If anything it’s more so an endurance feat rather than a durability one. Logically he shouldn’t be able to walk. These characters can unleash their FP attacks regardless of their condition.

But it’s not only durability feats. You’re completely ignoring the fact that everyone present in battle has shown offensive feats that surpass what G4 Luffy could do to Kaido pre-training. The best he could do was knock around a drunk Kaido in Dragon form. Every attack on Kaido that we have seen at onigashima has surpassed this level.

FWI I do agree that Zoro would defeat Act 1 G4 Luffy (50/50 chance even Rooftop Luffy as well)

I think your viewing Kaido's durability the wrong way. His scales are what makes him durable, but different methods can allow someone to hurt him. It wasn't because of Luffy's physical power that he couldn't hurt him, he just couldn't get through his scales. Even the likes of Kinemon can hurt Kaido a bit with advanced CoA. The only way Kidd could hurt him was by crushing his insides.

Could be. Both Kaido and Big Mom have been pretty inconsistent in how they've been displayed. I'm mostly going by how I feel the group is being portrayed. I suppose we'll learn more as the war goes on.

Luffy lost again. My guess is he magically learns Gear 5 before landing in the ocean and learns how to fly.

Wow, so Nami get's shafted without having a fight again... At least we get to see Kid do some work even if the match up makes 0 sense in the narrative.

Kaido might be a lot stronger than he showed so far if it had to be shown off-screen him beating Luffy. Maybe another Hybrid form.

Taking bets on how Luffy avoids death in the next chapter.

1. Marco somehow escapes his battle and catches Luffy
2. Momo uses his dragon form to catch him
3. Luffy learns awakening or G5 while unconscious
4. Ace and Pedro fly in from Raftel to save the day
5. Other

I don't think so. Rokushiki functions similarly to Haki but isn't based on willpower or anything like that.
