Advanced Haoshoku might be used in combination with Advanced Busoshoku which could be the reason why the attacks don't require a physical connection. Hyogoro only showed Luffy how to do that with Busoshoku Haki. Now he's doing it with Haoshoku which is far more powerful. Whether it's a combination or not has yet to be determined.

Well, but should Law be surprised by the attacks not hitting? He saw Luffy hitting Kaido with the advanced attack beforehand.

Luffy used level 3 against Kaido before, not the level 2 that Hyogoro displayed.

He hit Kaido as soon as they got in that floor, and everyone noticed this was an advanced type of haki, no? Luffy is doing that with Haoshoku now, sure, but should they be surprised the attack doesn't need a physical connection when he performed that feat before?

He hit Kaido with level 3 which requires contact. I'm gonna make a thread about it for further discussion.

I got a question that anybody can be free to answr.

To what extent can DF and CoA Haki be combined? I know that we've seen guys like Doflamingo and Katakuri incorporate CoA into their strings and mochi, but how would it work for someone like say Ace or Enel? Would it be possible for Enel and Ace to coat their electricity/fire in Armament Haki? When Kizaru shoots his laser beam attacks, can they be coated as well or nah?

I'd say probably not. I think that it's more advantageous to Paramecias in that respect.

The Admirals have been seen doing this too. When Aokiji was impaled at Marineford he used Kenbunshoku to avoid the attack. I just don't see how Busoshoku could be implemented when its main use is to harden the body. Like I guess Enel could imbue his lightning trident with it?

No he actually used his electricity to increase the range of his Observation Haki to cover the entire sky island. Maybe it's harder to incorporate hardening onto electricity,

Oh true. That seems more like luck than anything imo. But something like that could work with Busoshoku I suppose.

Btw, what's deal with Akainu in this instance?

Did the Haki not hurt him or what?

Perhaps he turned into lava to reduce the effect of the attack.

Well, I'm current.

Some considerations:

Chopper proved his doctor expertise in producing an anti-body for Queen's attack. But I'd have preferred if his knowledge were put to test more often. Whenever someone besides a fighter from the crew gets tested in their area of expertise, they manage it without a fail... It'd be cool if they struggled more to succeed, it's both more realistic and less artificial imo. A good character doesn't only succeed in their tasks.

Zoro's Asura was cool and all and we finally saw him using 100% of his power, but I'd hope it had somewhat of a larger effect on Kaido, at least knocking him off his feet. Or, rather, that his previous attacks on Kaido didn't have an effect. But he had already attacked Kaido like twice iirc so these attacks having an effect kinda obfuscated his Asura, which was the best he could dish out.

Luffy was defeated and Kaido wondered if he should have chopped his head off haha. Now someone will likely rescue Luffy and he'll have a go at Kaido again. I think the enemies should just off the SWs for good when they have the chance, not make room for their recovery. But again, Kaido seems to want to die and have a glorious death, envisioning those who did like Whitebeard....so maybe deep inside he wants Luffy to defeat and kill him so he has a honorable death?

Id say leaving a permanent scar on a Yonko is still a pretty great feat when it's shown that it's nearly impossible to do real damage to him.
