Idk I'd just find it weird if the military came in and conquered a country. Is there precedence for that in the story? I thought they were supposed to be the good guys in the public eye.

Lucci said the order came from someone higher so either Fleet Admiral or Gorosei made the decision.

I'd have to assume it was the Gorosei. I don't think Lucci would consider the Fleet Admiral his higher up. The Marines weren't even aware of CP0s presence in Wano or the dealings they were involved in.

Yeah I agree. What are your predictions for the arc?

I think the Marines will arrive in Wano at some point. There's no reason not to introduce Green Bull at this point in the story. I'm expecting both him and SSG to be revealed.

I don't know what else to expect. The more forces that arrive in Wano, the more implausible it is for the alliance to win.

On another note, I have a feeling we are gonna see Vegapunk make his appearance in this arc in some shape or form.

I don't see him doing anything of note. Maybe he and Law will get the best of Big Mom through some sort of tactic which will give them credit for "defeating" her and keep them from falling too far from Luffy. Given that Luffy's crew mates will be defeating Kaido's top commanders, it would be odd for Kid and Law to manage less than them. I don't think they'll actually beat her of course.

So why was he written into this arc in the first place?

Well initially it was clear that he was meant to be a rival to Luffy, which could be seen as early as Sabaody, then in the prison, and then at the start of the fight with Kaido. Luffy proved to be eons ahead of both him and Law which leaves them both in a strange spot. They are implied to be stronger than commander level but they are also trash to the Yonko. They'll either have to power up or will end up being completely wasted in the arc.

That's why I'm not certain this arc with end soon because there are still a lot of plot threads that need addressing.

Maybe they will prove themselves against the Marines.
