Jesus. So now not only is Luffy's fruit a mythical zoan that is unlimited in strength/ability, but it also chose him. The chosen one trope has really gone too far in OP. Shanks clearly stole the fruit because he knew of its importance, and yet nobody acted like Luffy was Joyboy in Romance Dawn after he ate the fruit.

I'd like to know why he didn't put more effort in before then lol. He prioritized WB's fruit when he could've stolen Luffy's in Impel Down. Literally nothing makes sense now.

Also how is Oda going to up the threat level from here? Luffy has unlimited powers and is treating Kaido likea joke. Who is going to outdo Kaido by a significant margin aside from BB? Why do the Admirals even exist now?

We are nearing the endgame. Imu and BB might be the only guys that Luffy will have trouble against. Don't underestimate Akainu either.

That's true I suppose. I just don't see what the government will be able to do if Luffy beats BB who will be stronger than Kaido.

At the very least I like the design of G5 though. It's like the DBZ style where the strongest forms are often the least threatening looking.

yeah this retcon/reveal seems like gay faggotry. Idk why Oda would ruin the concept of Luffy being just a run of the mill dreamer despite his massively powerful father and grandfather, whose fruit was just a nothing-special-type Paramecia that he utilized to its fullest to make Gear powers on his own. Having him be destined to be great just seems like the same bullshit Naruto and Harry Potter and all the other crappy protags were fated to be. Even Goku himself was never "fated" he just became SSJ because of a calm heart awakened by rage (unless you count the Bardock special making him special due to Bardock's premonition).

Might actually drop once I reread up to the end of Dressrosa, the Yonko centered sagas seem very bad.

After thinking about it more, I don't hate it anymore. There is a lot of reasoning behind why this doesn't make Luffy destined at all. Personally, I still would have preferred the route of Gomu Gomu no mi being some random fruit, but this reveal doesn't actually make the fruit any more powerful than what we knew about it. The only difference is the name and why it's important.

To say it is even close to Naruto level is plain wrong.

The thought that the fruit is this uber rare fruit with hidden properties that the WG went out of their way to pervert into a lesser fruit similar to Gol D. Roger's name and the 100-year lost history makes Luffy pretty "chosen" if the fruit literally chose him lol
