At least Luffy is finally taking a situation seriously in G5 instead of acting silly towards everything.

I think it would have made more sense for the Gorosei to be weaker and the Knights to be strong. The Gorosei could be primarily political, the Knights are fighters. Unless they did a backstory like the Knights are chosen to be political figureheads, while the Gorosei are the true string-pullers, who've had more time as immortals to get stronger.

Maybe Oda just found there's too many end-game antagonists for the Strawhats and their allies to fight: The Yonkou, Gorosei, Akainu/Admirals, Blackbeard Pirates, God's Knights. If the SHs have to keep getting stronger to beat each group, it would go on forever. Or if the SHs are basically at end-game power and those characters are all around the same level too, it's too many PK-level characters and too many equal fights in one place, so there can't be much focus on the main enemies (eg Akainu, Blackbeard, Gorosei, Imu).

That's been a theory since gear 5 was revealed.

As for the God's Knights, they're obviously strong, the Straw Hat's are just that strong now. Their real power is in Imu's ability to take direct control.

Kind of insane how we are seeing Luffy already fighting Imu at this stage. This feels like shit you would expect in the last 20-30 chapters of the story lol.

I'm glad that shuts down the idea that Imu is some black void that doesn't have a body. I really want to see what the official translation calls his ability. And it makes me wonder if Imu is actually immortal or merely has eternal life, given the immediate damage he took from taking real form.

His ability looks like it's meant to be the antithesis of Luffy's.

He's definitely transformed there but he looks similar to King's race.

It ends a lot of Imu theories.

What a chapter though.

Luffy wasn't really able to fight on an even field with the Elder's, even with Loki I can't imagine they won't be outclassed here.

Seeing Imu's form I bet he was a rival to Joyboy back then. I think Luffy and Loki will get stomped here. Plus they aren't even back to full power yet.

That seems likely given that merely going to the lower realm injured them, and how much the Gorosei protested.
And let's not forget that Laffitte is currently on standby and will use this moment of disarray as an opportunity.

Imu's haki is apparently the strongest Gaban has ever felt. I wonder if it surpasses Joyboy's haki. I can't see Luffy and Loki managing anything against him.

We've yet to see Luffy control his advanced conquerors the same way others like Shanks do. It just radiates off of him while he fights.
