Just to play Devil's Advocate, wouldn't Goku be able to tell that Hit had become stronger prior to that engagement? He was already seen fighting a Jiren while Goku was getting fisted by Dypo and Toppo.

That's explained by how Hit was only on par with Super Saiyan God a few years back, and now he's suddenly fighting the same with Complete Super Saiyan Blue, which is basically fusion tier. Goku would have to be hiding something to not be surprised about Hit's newfound strength.

Manga Merged Zamasu was kind of piss weak in the grand scheme of things thanks to Zamasu being pathetic. I'm not sure I would call CSSB fusion tier, but that's just semantics.

If UI Sign isn't a thing in the manga, they'll probably just have her be CSSB level or have Goku and Vegeta fight her as a team.

UI Sign will probably be a thing, seeing as they revealed "Freeza raising his hand for the genkidama" was an anime only decision rather than the entire thing being anime-only filler. I just think genkidama'll be a last resort when almost everybody is out of bounds, and the UIS form will soon be followed by the perfected form.

Yes, he was, but he was still WAAAAY out of Super Saiyan God tier at the very least. I would put him a couple levels above Super Saiyan Blue as well, but not massively so.

Yes, but he was having trouble with Dyspo and Toppo. He probably wasn't focused on how well Hit was doing against Jiren, and only caught a glimpse of it before heading over there.
