Ryuma compared to Mihawk/Rayleigh/Oden/Shanks. Also was his Zombie form his real personality?

Was he stronger than them? He's legendary, but maybe the world was weaker back then.

EOS Zoro>Shank?

Ryuma forged a black blade, something only Mihawk has been able to accomplish. At worst he's equal to Mihawk imo.

He was legendary enough to become well known even to modern day pirates. I feel like he was the strongest of his era, which I wouldn't say was weaker given we saw Joyboy's Haki in action and it was the strongest seen yet.

If Zoro surpasses Mihawk then he'll probably also surpass Shanks too, unless Mihawk is actually weaker than Shanks somehow.

Ryuma to Zoro is probably what Joyboy is to Luffy. They represent what those two will become once their potential is fully realized.

I think he's on par, if not stronger than Roger and Prime Whitebeard.

Zoro being related to Ryuma makes that more apparent as well.

Was Ryuma a dick? He seemed like a dick in Thriller Bark.

Also if Ryuma was that weak in zombie form, how strong would non-zombie Oars be? He'd kill the Yonkou and Admirals on his own.

Wasn't Ryuma way later than JoyBoy? The world collapsed in JBoys time, then was weakened and has been slowly getting stronger since then. If the world wasn't islands in JBoy's time but was continents, people would have traded techniques and technology more and fought more. Then the world submerged, technology was lost and trade and war declined, until seafaring technology was improved. Obviously this is all only speculation.

I don't think his zombie form is in any way related to his former self. Oars was a different case because of how massive he was, so it was a given that he would be strong, regardless of which personality he was given.

I'm not sure when he appeared in the timeline, but Wano was always said to be a closed off nation since the Void Century, so the rest of the world weakening shouldn't change things there.

Well if there's less competition from outside Wano it would be easier for him to be the strongest in the world and thus impress everyone outside Wano. Say right now the strongest swordsman isn't from Wano. During Roger's time it wasn't either, since Isaac Jr was stronger than Oden. Back then Ryuma was the strongest swordsman, but if the rest of the world was weaker it would be easier for someone from Wano to be the strongest, when in other eras he'd be the 2nd or 3rd strongest.

I see what you mean with Oars. I forgot they didn't have their original personalities in them. Oars had Luffy's.

Don't forget that the World Government still had Imu and presumably other power houses from that era (maybe the oldest gorosei?). For them not to challenge Wano says a lot about Wano's strength.
