To me it seems obvious she thinks he's strong in a sense that he's much stronger than the other contestants to not be defeated in a single blow.

I've already given other examples of other characters who did the exact opposite of this. Combined with her being hesitant of killing him accidently, then it all makes sense.

Dont you think she should know a certain range of power in which they wouldnt die, like she did for the regular humans? Even without being able to sense ki she already had a go at him.

Well put. Now where exactly do they stack up? A decent bit stronger I would presume? How much?

Close enough that they can't end the fight with a kiai cannon in base and that the fight won't be easy, but probably a fair bit, given that they attempted it at all. On the order of 8%, +/- 3% or so I think is fair.

Given that they don't feel they can end the fight as Super Saiyans in a physical confrontation, doesn't that speak volumes about how much the suit messed them up?

Yeah, the suit is ridiculous, but I see it as sort of restraining them to an exact level, rather than a percentage or something.
