Do you guys think Cooler should be made canon with a deep backstory to explain why we never saw or heard of him in U7 and his motive isn't to rule the universe or seek revenge?

I don't think why not as long as the story is good enough then sure, otherwise no thanks. But knowing with the current stuffs going on like Broly returning and Cooler appearing on DBH then it is possibility.

I've always liked Cooler, and with all the other audacious things that have happened in Super, making him canon wouldn't cause much of a wave. Beyond that, we could well get some retconning with King Cold in DBS BROLY, so why not Cooler.

He's already been brought back in Heroes and had a quick cameo in GT. Feels like he's just one fanboy wank away from making it official in Super.

I mean, we're already getting Broly. Why no Coola?

You got a point. However, we've already got Freeza, Freeza's bootleg counterpart Frost. Coola's basically Freeza from what I've heard, so it would be redundant bringing back another clone of Freeza when the original is here.

A three way fusion between Frost, Freeza, and Coola that still loses to Beerus.

Considering they already tried and failed to hype him up with Heroes, no. Whatever marketability he presents would already began and ended with Golden Coola. I'm open to the idea of him being canonised, but I don't see a real reason for it from a marketing or story perspective. You'd need some serious asspulls for him to be relevant at this point and even if so, his character has no appeal beyond his design as his personality is just Freeza if you strip away all the aspects that make Freeza unique.
Just giving Frost the Shredder form and explaining it off as being the U6 equivalent of the Golden form would suffice.

He wouldn't have to be fully incorporated or involved to be made into canon. Really just a name drop or sticking him in the background of a flashback is all it would take. Similar to what they did for Tarble.

Sure, the expectation would be to have Cooler fight. But that leaves room for another disaster storyline. Personally I'd rather have it be a quick, sort of Easter Egg scenario and be done with it.

Well, that could be done. The question is though, if Coola were to be added without having him be fleshed out or play any real role of impact, what would be the point in adding him in the first place beyond fanservice?

Fanservice implies it's a gift to the fans and something they'd enjoy.

I just found out how Cooler movies did well on box office and similar to Broly as well.

¥3.74 billion ($31.1 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F
¥2.99 billion ($31.1 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods
¥2.48 billion ($19.2 million) - Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler
¥2.35 billion ($18.9 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13
¥2.24 billion ($22.2 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Second Coming
¥2.20 billion ($16.2 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge
¥2.12 billion ($20.4 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan
¥2.05 billion ($18.7 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound
¥2.05 billion ($14.9 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug
¥1.98 billion ($22.7 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn
¥1.75 billion ($18.0 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly
¥1.55 billion ($10.3 million) - Dragon Ball Z: The World's Strongest
¥1.24 billion ($9.6 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone
¥1.24 billion ($8.4 million) - Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might
¥1.22 billion ($6.8 million) - Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies
¥1.22 billion ($8.0 million) - Dragon Ball: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle
¥1.10 billion ($12.2 million) - Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon
¥1.00 billion ($7.8 million) - Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure
Sub-¥1 billion (~$8/9 million) - Dragon Ball Z: The Path to Power

No wonder he was hyped as hell on Heroes since him and Broly are extremely popular in Japan but the only difference between them is that Broly is extremely popular in the west compare to Cooler.
