A Gohan who came from a dimension where he had to train his whole life (because of some messed up dimension) and is strong as fuck? Chi Chi could play a role, like he kills Chi Chi accidentally, sees the science books she bought for him and is like "oh fuck what have I done?!", his ki goes down and our Gohan and Gotenks' kis goes up and he gets defeated.

Or Gohan who naturally just wanted to train and was a bit evil. Our Gohan beats him because his anger boost is greater when some random green kids get killed, whereas Black just fights for himself more. Pretty typical anime trope, but what else do you want?

Also he's advised by Popo Blue. Confuse everyone who only watched the Nicktoons DBZ.

Would've been a lot more interesting since Gohan was always the biggest pacifist among the group. And considering we already got a rendition of an evil Goku in Tree of Might, going back to it was a mistake.

It would have been like what Future Trunks is to Present Trunks in a way, so I believe there should have been Gohan Black instead.

An evil Goku was more obvious and served more to bait the fan-fiction part of the audience who threw that idea around for as long as forums have been around. Like SSJ2 said, this was already done with Turles, but Super, as it tends to do, not only recycled an old idea but decided to make it more on the nose.

An evil Gohan would have been a more intersesting and cerebral choice, and played more on the emotions of the audience more. Gohan was always so well regarded by the gang, and always maintained an innocence that Goku was only given in his later years (that is to say he was far more eager to kill early on, while Gohan always had to be pushed even to just fight. I think evil Gohan is a more gut wrenching turn, but Super plays on the expectations of the most superficial and one dimensional rather than anything with real depth or consequence.

I guess Gohan Black's Ultimate form would be too little of a change from his base state with Black already having the stern looking eyes. Plus future Gohan looks too dissimilar from present Gohan to evoke the evil lookalike feeling.
